BAe ATP – c/n 2057

With BWA from Sep 1997 to Dec 2001

G-OBWL would be the very first of a handful of ATPs to join the British World fleet arriving at Southend in primer on September 26th 1997. She initially went into service from various British airports to short hop, cross-Channel destinations during 1997 and 1998. During this time, ATP Whiskey Lima would also operate a number of leases going off to Air Nostrum for two months at the end of 1997, followed by Air Excel in the Netherlands for two weeks during March 1998. She then went to Debonair for several days before departing for Air France from April to June ’98 where she would operate mostly out of Charles De Gaulle airport, this then being followed up later in the year with more short leases for Jersey European in July and Binter Medeterraneo at the end of the year.

Finally in February 1999, Whiskey Lima would gain a short reprieve from multiple leases and headed off to Germany and Austria where she would spend some time on private tourist charters. However, by March 1999 it was back to business as usual and this lease would witness her taking on the colours of a lessor for the first time, namely those of Citijet – Midlands City Express. While with this airline, she spent 6 months primarily operating between Dublin and the UK/Continent. Her BWA livery was eventually reapplied in November and her later years would see her replacing the unpopular ATRs on the Scottish routes and as such, she would also become something of a regular sight at Edinburgh during 2001. However, with the collapse of BWA in December 2001, she was stored until being sold by the receiver to West Air in Sweden in April 2004.
